The 1976 annual meeting was held at Emmanuel College, Cambridge on 26 and 27 March.

4.45pm           Your Actual European Studies: a Medieval Tilt, Dr Peter Johnson (Pembroke College, Cambridge)

7pm                 Conference Dinner

8.30pm           French for Schools: From Both Sides of the Microphone, Raymond Escoffey (BBC)

As well as his work for the BBC schools language programme, Raymond Escoffey is known for editing the Penguin French Dictionary with Merlin Thomas.

Saturday 27 March

9.30am           Varieties of Comic Languages in Seventeenth Century France, Dr Peter Bayley (Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge)

11.30am           Existentialism: Immanent or Moribund?, Bernard Biggs (Tonbridge School)
